Back in design school, I once took a personality evaluation to apply at Golden Corral. It said I had "issues with following the status quo". I was shocked! I did not get that job. Now, throughguest lectures and classes globally, as well as private workshops in his spectacular LA Design Studio, Eddie generously shares his extensive business, design and floral expertise.
Bill Zaruka was only 14 years old when he started working in the family business at the highly successful Buenaventura Golf Course Food & Beverage Concession. Bill worked every position at the Bar & Grill serving golfers, as well as the Wedgewood Banquet Center, serving weddings and banquets. He performed all the service and accounting functions. His interest in the business led him to pursue a degree in Hotel Administration at Cornell University. At Cornell, Bill exhibited his leadership skills as President of his fraternity and Captain of the lightweight football team. He graduated in 1998. After graduation, Bill joined the food services division of Universal Studios, Hollywood, CA. As a multi-unit manager he was responsible for several of the park’s high-volume restaurants where he grew revenues, created budgets, wrote operating standards and training programs and led the installation of several point-of-sale systems. In 2002 he partnered with his mother and father in an effort to expand the family business. As President of Wedgewood, Bill is responsible for day-to-day operations, marketing, finance and business development. Under his leadership Wedgewood has grown from a single-unit family business in 2003 to a 36-venue nationwide wedding powerhouse. Wedgewood now performs more than 4000 weddings per year with their signature all-inclusive product offerings and trademark Valservenience™ (value-service-convenience). Throughout its strategic expansion Wedgewood has maintained its 5-star online reputation and best-in-class customer satisfaction scores. Bill is most passionate about making customers’ wedding planning and execution stress-free and affordable. With a brand platform that is customer-centric and budget-friendly, Wedgewood has become synonymous with weddings and is regarded by many as the nation’s wedding leader. Bill resides in Temecula CA. He has been married to his wife Jennifer since 2006, and they have four children together.
